Crisis 2019!!

Had a great day at crisis 2019 past saturday! Show was great and having won an early bird ticket i was able to get first pick at the bring and sell! Was a pretty busy show at times, and have seen some great games. One that i liked was this battlegroup game by ‘de witte ridder’ with lots of nicely painted tanks!

brought home lots of goodies!

My main interests were starting two opposing armies for sharp practice. Theatre will be the peninsular war. So first buy was the rulebook and movement trays!

Miniature wise i had pre ordered a bunch of metal minis from perry miniatures and eagle figures, and i bought some napoleonic highlanders from the bring and sell, and french troops from Dave Thomas. both made by victrix. This should give me plenty models to put an army togheter.

With that out of the way, i went and looked at picking up some scenery stuff. As last year, my first stop was emperor toad’s emporium, where i picked up a little farm with fences/hedges and some random bits form his clearance section. I also bought a pack of mdf ruins for mordheim from pworks and some goats from warbases for a ‘steal the cattle’ scenario we have played earlier this year. It makes for a great game, so i thought i’d upgrade my counters to real animals!

The bring and sell got me all of the missing ‘show exclusive’ models i was missing (pictured togheter with this year’s show exclusive minis), and some rather nice bretonnian knights!

A wargames show is nothing if you don’t have a rather big impulse buy , so for me this came in the form of fireforge boxes! Got their albion knights, foot sergeants and foot knights, to add to my bretonnian force!

I was also able to get an order from pendraken miniatures, even though they no longer attend the show. I could pick it up from eagle figures. In it there were a bunch of hobby supplies like paints, specific coloured dice, dice frames and bases, but also some 10 mm goodness in the form of landing craft for Blitzkrieg commander, some sherman dd’s and a couple of churchill tanks. Also included are some naval crew and oerlikons top put on the craft!

For my bolt action forces i got a stug and airborne and heer medium mortars. It’s a slow project, but every now and then i pick up a few pieces, so the armies are constantly getting bigger!

Last one is a bit of a bummer . I found some walking dead all out war boosters, who looked just like standard english boosters. Upon getting home it appeared they had all french cards in them (and one didn’t even have any cards). Well, at least the minis are nice!

I have been busy sunday and yesterday in getting it all built as fast as i can, and have since prepped and based all of the metals, and assembled the tank as a stuH 42

Still, lots to do, but very fun times for the moment! Nothing beats a big hobby shopping spree!

pendraken 10 mm zombies

Got through a batch of pendraken zombies just now, had been lying around for too long!

These got pushed back a while back when i delved into the waling dead: all out war game. But still i wanted to finish these!

So adding 41 to the model count: 589 models finished!

and the tally : About 5678 models are painted and 1948 models are still waiting for love. And i can scratch one from the projects list:

Still to do:

1) epic orcs
2)epic space marines
3) warhammer fantasy undead
4)warhammer fantasy orcs and goblins
5) napoleonic British/Hanoverians
6) LOTR goblins
7) napoleonic french
8 ) LOTR high elves
9) 40k imperial guard
10) 40k dark angels (dark vengeance starter set)
11) 40k chaos (dark vengeance starter set)
12) mice and mystics/reaper mouselings (prepped and mounted to bases)
13) D&D temple of elemental evil game (1/10th done)
14)D&D tomb of annihilation game
15) d&d mad mage game

Done this year:

16)pendraken zombies and survivors
17)LOTR numenor
18)D&D legend of drizzt game (1/8th done)
19)undead pirate warband
20) republican rome
21)carthago

Now it’s only a week to the crisis 2019 convention, so i’ll probably won’t start on something new, and will be adding to the projects list next weekend 😀

Finished 20 Numenorians for LOTR/ME sbg.

Going forward with my painting challenge today with a few Numenor swordsman ( and a few converted archers).

These get added to my already finished ones!

More than enough for a quick game i suppose 🙂

Now for the numbers:

Adding 20 to the model count: 548 models finished!

and the tally : About 5637 models are painted and 1989 models are still waiting for love.

+i can scratch one from the projects list:

1) epic orcs
2)epic space marines
3) warhammer fantasy undead
4)warhammer fantasy orcs and goblins
5) napoleonic British/Hanoverians
6) LOTR goblins
7) napoleonic french
8 ) LOTR high elves
9) 40k imperial guard
10) 40k dark angels (dark vengeance starter set)
11) 40k chaos (dark vengeance starter set)
12) mice and mystics/reaper mouselings (prepped and mounted to bases)
13) D&D temple of elemental evil game (1/10th done)
14)D&D tomb of annihilation game
15) d&d mad mage game
16)pendraken zombies and survivors (cleaned and prepped and mounted to bases)

projects done this year:

17)LOTR numenor
18)D&D legend of drizzt game (1/8th done)
19)undead pirate warband
20) republican rome
21)carthago

So pretty good alltogheter, 5 projects finished this year, almost at my goal of 600 models for this year, and my total left to do drops below 2000!!! (at least untill crisis gets here ;D )

And ho knows, maybe i can get the zombies done before crisis, putting me (briefly) on my goal of 15 projects left!

Games Workshop at spiel ’19.

A nice article was posted on warhammer community last thursday, with their new announcements at spiel.

Looks like a new starter set for necromunda with new gangs and terrain is not far off.

Biggest draw for me is the palanite enforcers gang, wich are looking great and are basically the reincarnation of the loved arbites!

They will be facing off against the twisted Corpse Grinder Cult , who look great as well and build on the “khorne berzerkers without armour” estethic we are used to from the chaos releases we got over the last years.

Both gangs get to face off against each other over this gorgeous terrain scape:

Really excited to see more info about this coming out in the next weeks!

Other announcements are for blood Bowl, where the ogres are getting a team box.

Looks like the aesthetic has finally adapted to the more recent ogres of WHF/AOS. Also included are some goblins for them to throw around!

My favourite is the one throwing the gobbo around!

Last but not least, the Spire Tyrants for warcry!

These look like gladiators who don’t like to lose, at all! Some great sculpts in there, and loving the fact that GW is continueing the trend of not locking down in one species for chaos. There is a great dwarf in there, and a gorgeous looking beastman sculpt, who just screams to be released separately as a character !

All in all, some great things coming up in the near future!

Introducing myself

Hello there,

My name is Peter and this is my blog.

I do so much games and miniatures, and post on various forums, but finally want to get everything togheter in one space, so i’m making a brand new blog!

I’ll be writing about new stuff coming out for the various (sub)categories in tabletop gaming: wargaming, boardgaming, strategy games and roleplaying games. Mostly WITH miniatures, as that is what floats my boat, but this can also be hex and counter or traditional boardgaming. I can appreciate a lot of things!

I will also talk about my own experiences, the games i play, the miniatures i paint, the stuff i buy and the rules i read, and this is a lot of stuff!

I currently own 7626 minis (at last count 😀 ) and have 5617 of those painted. I have been doing painting challenges for 3 years in a row to to get them all done (1001 in 2017, 767 in 2018, and i am at 528 at the moment in 2019), so expect quite a bit of painting updates!

I actually hope this blog gives me even more mojo to get them all done!

I hope everyone has fun while i get that going!

just a part of my collection!

Number 1!

The only way to do great work is to love what you do.

Hi There,

My name is Peter and this is the first post on my brand new blog! An attempt by me to get more ‘active’ in my hobby. Tabletop gaming is a big part of my life, and not a day goes past without thinking about it or doing something with it, So why not blog about it?

I hope this will be the start of a great journey, with only one possible outcome : embracing the hobby even more, and planting the community even deeper in my heart!

Keep an eye on this blog because updates should be very regularely!!
